Life Just Got Real

I  made a decision. Probably the biggest decision I have yet made in life, and I decided it Friday.
And then I felt like this all weekend...

haha yeah.

I am growing up!

Now I am going to tell you what has been going on since my last blog post.

All of September I was a wreck. I couldn't sleep, I barely ate, and I spent a good 20 minutes a day on the USU job board looking for jobs. I had convinced myself that I wasn't going to get a job offer before graduation and I was going to be stuck teaching tumbling the rest of my life. Then I met my new friend Marcus. My roommate Kylee introduced me to Marcus, who lives in SLC, one weekend when he was up for a USU football game. In our conversations I asked Marcus what he did for work and he said, "I am a recruiter".
 I was immediately interested.

I have always been interested in recruiting, thus my desire to minor in HR. I then asked him a bunch of questions about his work and he told me to send him my resume.

Let me just say my resume is a little blank in the professional work experience area haha.

Anyway... I sent it in not expecting much, a few days later I got a phone call, the next week  I had a phone interview, I was asked to come down and interview last Thursday, had 4 interviews in 4 hours and was called the next day and offered the job! yay me!!

It really is who you know, not what you know. Thank you Marcus for helping me get this job!

Meanwhile I had applied at other jobs, had interviewed and had even been offered a position in a great little company here in Logan.

I thought that I would have a horribly hard time deciding between my 2 job offers, but in all honesty the decision was simple. I knew what the right choice was before I even had to make it. And it was terrifying. I cried on the phone to my mom about knowing that I had to choose the option that was the scariest. I went to the temple Friday morning knowing that I needed confirmation on my choice and had a neat experience that only helped validate my decision. Salt Lake is where I need to be.
I accepted the offer Friday afternoon.

The Job:

I will be working at a company in West Valley City called Aerotek as a recruiter. I will get salary, unlimited commission, and benefits. I guesss I will finally start paying for my own car insurance. My dad is stoked i'm sure. I start January 6. I will be working in their engineering division where I will recruit engineers. haha I know nothing about engineering so this will be fun. If there are any engineers out there that want to coach me on some of your lingo feel free to call me.

From the website (link above):

I am now on the apartment hunt. Where oh where in Salt Lake should I live? I think I have narrowed it down to 3 areas that I like and hopefully I will find something I will want to spend a crap load of money on. I am going to miss Logan's cheap rent and living expenses :( I will also miss all of my incredible friends here.. It makes me tear up thinking about it so we wont talk about that along with the 20 other things I will miss.

I know some of you are laughing because Salt Lake really isn't that scary and if I really were adventurous I would leave the state, but I am cool with just taking baby steps. I'm proud of myself and that is really all that matters.

But... I am excited! Soo excited and so very scared and I feel like the world is still at my feet and I am ready for a new adventure. I know I made the right choice and now I get to put on my big girl panties for my big girl job.

So congratulations to me! I am graduating, have an awesome job lined up, and get to take the next big step in my life! So everyone if you don't hear back from me before January 6, because lets face it I suck at blogging consistently, wish me luck! I am about to step into the unknown!

love always, ash
